Working consultation between CAS-SEABRI and Forest Research Institute

On 28th of August, Prof. Dr. Ruichang QUAN Deputy Director of CAS-SEABRI and his party had a meeting with Dr. Thaung Naing Oo, Director of Forest Research Institute of FD at director office.

To follow up one of the cooperation components: capacity building, of MOU between Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation. On 28th of August, Prof. Dr. Ruichang QUAN Deputy Director of CAS-SEABRI and his party had a meeting with Dr. Thaung Naing Oo, Director of Forest Research Institute of FD at director office. 

In the opening remark, Dr. Thaung Naing Oo, Director of FRI, welcomed the SEABRI delegates and thanked the support from CAS, and SEABRI. Prof. Ruichang QUAN, Deputy Director of SEABRI, expressed his appreciation to FRI and Forest Department for inviting SEABRI delegates to visit Myanmar and providing assistance for field biodiversity survey.

Metting between CAS-SEABRI and FRI

During the meeting, matters related to the annual meeting of CAS-SEABRI and FD, upcoming "tropical plant identification course and forest management workshop" that will be held in October, the arrangement of the workshop, the maintenance of the office building were discussed. 

It is learnt that the annual meeting will be held in December 2017 or January 2018, the Workshop will add Opening Ceremony, followed by photo section and orientation. Dr. Thaung Naing Oo highlighted that it is very useful to display research publications or newsletters at the training event and to provide the participants with the concept note or training document prior to the commencement of the workshop. 

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss and exchange views on strengthening bilateral cooperation between FRI and SEABRI in the area of capacity building, training and academic exchange.

Also present at the meeting were Dr. Yazar Minn, Assistant Director of FRI, project assistants and research assistants of each group.
