A new species of genus Fejervarya (Anura:Dicroglossidae) from northern Thailand

They describe a new species of frog in the dicroglossid genus Fejervarya from Ban Monjong, Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province, northern Thailand.

Prof. Jing CHE, reaearher of CAS-SEABRI and also the scientist of Kunming Institute of Zoology. Their team fieldwork was conducted in the vicinity of Monjong village, Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand from June to September 2013. During their survey a new  species was collected and is discribe as  Fejervarya. To clarify its phylogenetic relationships with other species of Fejervarya, they reconstructed a matrilineal genealogy for the genus using mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence data from the ribosomal RNA gene 16S, which is widely recognized as a useful genetic marker for amphibian systematics. Discovery of this new species indicates that the biodiversity of amphibians in this region remains underestimated.
