CAS vice president Zhang Yaping visits Myanmar

From August 24 to 26, 2015, Prof. ZHANG Ya-Ping, vice president of CAS led nine delegates from the CAS Bureau of International Cooperation

        From August 24 to 26, 2015, Prof. ZHANG Ya-Ping, vice president of CAS led nine delegates from the CAS Bureau of International Cooperation and Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG)  to visit the Myanmar Ministry of Environment Conservation and Forestry (MOECAF) and the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar. His visit was for the promotion of CAS-SEABRI's Myanmar Project. Mr. Aye Myint Maung, deputy Minister of MOECAF, showed a warm welcome and appreciation to XTBG and CAS. Mr. HONG Liang, Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, indicated that they would provide assistance to XTBG and CAS for more scientific research program collaboration with Myanmar.
        Prof. Zhang Yaping met Mr. Aye Myint Maung, vice minister of Environmental Conservation and Forestry. He expressed gratitude to the vice minister for all the support provided to XTBG and other CAS institutions. CAS would work harmoniously with Myanmar institutions to promote work of Biodiversity Research Center. Mr. Aye Myint Maung said that his ministry will continually provide support and coordinate other efforts to CAS. The two sides also discussed some revisions for the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CAS and Myanmar Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry. A revised MoU will be signed on an appropriate day.
