Paralepidocephalus translucens, new species, is described from a cave in Luoxiong Town, Luoping County, Yunnan, China, Nanpanjiang River drainage. It is the second valid species of the genus. It is distinguished from its only congener, the epigean P. yui, by having 7 branched dorsal fin rays, 5 branched pelvic fin rays, a discolored body, and eyes vestigial, indistinct or invisible. Besides, P. guishanensis is confirmed to be a junior synonym of P. yui.
