Advanced Field course in Ecology and Conservation-2015

CAS-SEABRI provided full support to two young students from Myanmar to attend the Advanced Field course in Ecology and Conservation – XTBG 2015 (AFEC-X 2015).

        From 12October to 23 November 2015, XTBG held the Advanced Fieldcourse in Ecology and Conservation – XTBG 2015 (AFEC-X 2015). In total 32 applicants from 18 institutions in 11 countries were accepted to attend. CAS-SEABRI provided full support to two young students from Myanmar to attend the course.
The six–week fieldcourse includes four components: lectures and practical, field and symposium. During the whole course, 32 XTBG staff members and students were teaching and assisting the course. SEARI full funded two young students from Myanmar.
        The topics of the course including: species distribution modeling workshop, conservation tools, climate change ecology, invasive biology, R statistics and experimental design workshop, plants ecology, insects sampling techniques, bird ecology, bat ecology and various academic skills. All lectures were followed by a practical or demonstration. In addition, the students paid a oneday trip to Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve to visit the 20-ha dynamic plot, the canopy crane and canopy corridor; and 4-day trip to Yuanjiang Savanna Ecological Station in Yuanjiang National Nature Reserve.
